Call for papers: NSD - JWB Conference

About the Conference
We are pleased to announce the 1st NSD Management Conference in collaboration with the Emerging Markets Society and the Journal of World Business to be held at the National School of Development, Peking University on September 16-17, 2019. The conference aims to generate discussions and identify innovative ideas, methods, and theories to answer issues related to the challenges and opportunities brought by the changing global economic environment.

We invite scholars from all over the world to participate. The conference welcomes contributions focusing on different aspects of International Business that have potential to address the grand challenges that the business and society face in the 21st century.

Please submit full papers (8000 - 10000 words) by August 1, 2019 to jjwang2018@nsd.pku.edu.cn.

Authors will be notified of the decisions by August 15, 2019.

 

Paper Development Workshop
As part of the conference, we will conduct a paper development workshop (PDW) on September 17, 2019. Experienced panelists, including several senior editors of JWB will provide feedback to the participants to facilitate further development of their manuscripts for submission to leading international business journals.

Only a limited number of manuscripts (each applicant should submit only one paper) will be accepted for the PDW. Participants will be invited based on the quality (i.e., scientific rigor and relevance) of their submitted work. The PDW submissions should be full length papers (8000-10000 words).

The deadline for PDW submissions is Aug 1, 2019 to shwang2017@nsd.pku.edu.cn.

Accepted submissions will be notified by Aug 15,  2019.

Conference Speakers and PDW Panelists

Ajai S. Gaur, Rutgers Business School, USA
Associate Professor of Strategic Management and International Business at Rutgers Business School and Vice Chair in the Department of Management and Global Business at Rutgers Business School.  He is serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of World Business, and a consulting editor of the Journal of International Business Studies.

 


Markus Pudelko, the University of Tübingen, Germany
Professor of International Business at the University of Tübingen. His current research is on headquarters-subsidiary relationships, multinational teams, language, trust, international HRM, and cross-cultural management. He has published on these topics in journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of World Business and Human Resource Management. He serves as senior editor for the Journal of World Business.

 

 


Martina Musteen, San Diego State University, USA
Charles Hostler Professor of Global Business at San Diego State University. She also serves as a Director of the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), and a Senior Editor at the Journal of World Business. She conducts research primarily in the area of international entrepreneurship. Her work has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Management, Journal of International Business Studies, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice and others.

 

 


Vikas Kumar, the University of Sydney, Australia
Professor and Head of International Business Discipline and at the University of Sydney Business School. His previous appointments were at Bocconi University, and was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University and Dunning Fellow at University of Reading. He is serving as a senior editor at the Asia Pacific Journal of Management and on the Editorial Board of Journal of Management Studies, Journal of World Business, Management International Review and Global Strategy Journal.

 

 

 

Jane Lu, City University, Hong Kong
Chair Professor and Head of Management Department at College of Business of City University of Hong Kong. Her work has been published in leading academic journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International  Business Studies, among others. She was the Editor-in-Chief of Asia Pacific Journal of Management and currently a consulting editor at Journal of International Business Studies and Asia Pacific Journal of Management. She is also the president of Asia Academy of Management.
