Since 2013, NSD has been helping Niujie Township of Midu County. It has strengthened its mission, paid close attention to the implementation of its responsibilities, and has always been on the front line of helping Midu to fight against poverty, and has vividly written the family and national sentiments of Peking University people on the ground of western Yunnan.
Up to now, NSD has carried out a total of thirty-four field research, twenty various types of training, donated more than five million yuan, coordinated one hundred and eighteen million yuan of loans for poverty alleviation, and joined hands with alumni enterprises to obtain nearly one hundred and thirty million yuan for the collective economic organization of the land transfer proceeds.
On May 16, 2020, the People's Government of Yunnan Province officially approved the withdrawal of Midu County from the poverty-stricken counties, and at the 2021 National Poverty Alleviation Summary and Commendation Conference, NSD was awarded the "National Advanced Collective for Poverty Alleviation".
【Intellectual support】NSD fully utilizes its own intellectual resources, over the years, Zhou Qiren, Hu Dayuan, Yu Miaojie, Huang Yiping, Xu Jintao, Wang Min and other professors have gone to Midu County to give lectures, and cumulatively trained more than a thousand county cadres. Organize professional training for local farmers in tea processing and other technologies, scientific development of new agricultural economy.
【Educational support】NSD cooperated with Shanghai True Love Dream Public Welfare Foundation to build 45 dream centers. Prof. Xue Zhaofeng donated 1 million RMB to subsidize teachers and students in Midu County to participate in the "Going to Faraway Places" activity. NSD joined hands with alumni to build an internet-based children's art classroom in Kanglang Primary School in Unity Village, and initiated the "Moss Flower Project" in Ma'an Primary School in Niujie Township. Teachers and students of NSD actively donated anti-epidemic materials during the epidemic to help local primary and secondary schools resume schooling.
【Industrial support】NSD has repeatedly organized research and held symposiums with various functional departments in Midu County to introduce e-commerce resources and guide brand building. 【Rural Development】After the withdrawal of Midu County from the series of poverty-stricken counties, NSD continued to organize professors to Midu to give lectures to county cadres to help grassroots cadres broaden their horizons and enhance their abilities. Muzhang Village in Niujie Township was awarded the first batch of model villages for rural revitalization; Yu Miaojie and Lei Xiaoyan, Party Secretaries of NSD, were successively appointed as "honorary village chiefs" of Muzhang Village.
【Educational Progress】For two consecutive years, NSD has organized undergraduates to go to Midu to carry out civic and social practice research activities, providing cases and talent support for helping Midu's rural revitalization. It has carried out public welfare activities such as "I have distant relatives in the mountains, one class helps one village" and "Lighting the way home" to support local students one by one, with a cumulative donation of more than one million yuan, and a number of students have been admitted to postgraduate and undergraduate courses, with outstanding results in education and support.
【Industry thriving】 NSD professors took the lead and organized donations of 1 million yuan to set up a guarantee fund to help 62 farmers get a total of 18.8 million yuan in loans to develop rural industries. The organization of teachers and alumni class counterparts to help the village of wood palm tea and walnut industry effectively boosts the development of the cause of the Midu E-commerce platform.
【The Caijing Magazine Scholarship Program】Founded in 1999 and co-sponsored by NSD and Caijing magazine, the Caijing Magazine Scholarship Program.
