Bob joined Procter & Gamble in 1980, and led the Company from 2009 to 2013, during which time P&G realized annual sales of over $84 billion dollars. At the same time, P&G was consistently recognized for its leadership development, including twice being named as the best company for leaders by Chief Executive Magazine and being named #1 in Hay Group’s Best Companies for Leadership Study.

Bob is passionate about helping others improve their lives. This led him to write and teach his own values-based leadership beliefs, providing a template to countless numbers of people around the world, inside and outside of P&G, to understand their own leadership beliefs and the values that shaped their lives. He established the McDonald Cadet Leadership Conference at West Point. Two of NSD double degree students participated in the Conference of 2013.

Graduated from West Point in the top two percent of his class with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Bob has been awarded a Doctor of Laws, Honorary Degree, from Hampden-Sydney College; a Doctor of Commercial Science, Honorary Degree, from the University of Cincinnati; a Doctor of Business Administration, Honorary Degree, from Drexel University; and a Doctor of Humanities, Honorary Degree, from Xavier University.

Bob served as the Chair of The US-China Business Council, the Vice Chair of the Business Roundtable, the Vice-Co-Chair of The Consumer Goods Forum, the Chair of the Board of Visitors for the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, and as a member of the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership and a member of the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations – originally appointed by President Bush, then reappointed by President Obama. Bob serves on the Board of Directors of the Xerox Corporation, the United States Steel Corporation, the McKinsey Advisory Council, and the Singapore International Advisory Council of the Economic Development Board.
