2010-07-23

Justin Yifu Lin, the Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank and also the honorary Dean of the National School of Development (NSD) at Peking University, has been elected as a Corresponding Fellow at the Annual General Meeting of the Council of the British Academy on 22 July 2010.

The British Academy is the United Kingdom's national academy for the humanities and the social sciences. It was established by Royal Charter in 1902, and is a fellowship of more than 800 scholars. The Academy is self-governing and independent.

The relevant paragraph of the Academy's Bye-laws states: ??A person may be elected a Corresponding Fellow if he or she has attained high international standing in any of the branches of study which it is the object of the Academy to promote.'

Election to the Corresponding Fellowship is the highest honour that the Academy is able to confer in recognition of scholarly distinction.
