2015 China-US Economic Dialogue is Held

On June 6-7, 2015, the 12th China-US Economic Dialogue was co-hosted by Peking University National School and Development (China Center for Economic Research) and the National Committee on United States China Relations (NCUSCR) at the Beijing Kerry Center. Politicians, businesspeople and academics from both countries gathered to discuss issues including the Sino-US macroeconomic situation, the Asian Development Bank, the 21st Century Silk Road and China’s financial reforms.
 
Attendees from the US included former US Trade Representative and Co- Chair of the NCUSCR, Ms. Carla Hill; NCUSCR Chair and Council on Foreign Relations council member Stephen Orlins; former Chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia and Senior Fellow at Yale University, Steve Roach; University of California, San Diego Professer & Economist, Barry Naughton; New York University Stern School of Business Professor Kim Schoenholtz; former Citigroup vice chairman and Head of Global Regulatory Affairs at CLS Group Holdings AG, Dino Kos.

Attendees from China included former Chair of China Merchants Group, Mr. Qin Xiao(Chair of the Chinese delegation); professors Justin Lin, Lu Feng, Yao Yang, Huang Yiping from Peking University National School of Development; Peking University International Relations Professor Zha Daojiong; China International Capital Corporation Ltd Chief Strategist Dr. Huang Haizhou; Guangda Securities Chief Economist Dr. Xu Gao and Haitong International Chief Economist and Head of Research, Dr. Hu Yifan. Over the course of two days, both delegations discussed and exchanged ideas on the state of the US and Chinese economics in H1 2015 and reached a consensus on the policies used by both countries and looked into the mid-long term growth trends of the economies. In addition, they discussed the influence and trends of the‘21st Century Silk Road’, the Asian Development Bank and China’s financial reforms.

On the morning of 8 June, both delegations engaged in talks with Central Leading Group on Financial and Economic Affairs International Economic Director General Dr. Fang Xinghai and Silk Road Fund Managing Director Dr. Wang Jianye to deepen their understanding of the current economic environment and reforms as well as China’s Silk Road Fund.
 
The China-US Economic Dialogue began in January, 2010 and is held biannually in New York and Beijing. Its mission is promote engagement between Chinese and American academics and business leaders in Sino-US trade and in-depth discussion on the global economic situation. Results are reported to the relevant government departments in the US and China to aid in formulating government policy.
