On the morning of 14th October, 2014, the first National School of Development (“NSD”) Alumni Foundation board meeting was held in Langrun Garden. Board members present at the meeting were: Chairman Professor Yao Yang(Dean of the NSD);Vice Chairman Huo Bin(E13), Vice Chairman Peng Wenjian(E06);Vice Chairman Wu Minwen(E06); Executive member Huang Xin(E12); Secretary-General Liu Changyan(Assistant Dean, Director of Alumni Dept. in NSD ).Vice Chairman Jiang Lan（E08）was absent due to business reasons.
Dean Yao Yang expressed special thanks to to all alumni who made generous donations to the foundation and all who support the project, which will influence and inspire future generations of Peking University students. In the meeting, he pointed out that the NSD Alumni Foundation is our first alumni foundation managed by an alumni board. Alumni can decide where to spend funds to ensure they truly go "from alumni, to alumni”. This foundation aims to build a communication platform for all alumni; it will further enhance and condense the centripetal force of the alumni, expand their horizons and connections, boost their business and enrich their life. The Alumni Foundation will be carefully and strictly operated and managed in accordance with plan of a century old instutition, laying the foundations for the future. As Dean Yao Yang predicts, Peking University will be the richest university in the world by 2049 and the NSD will be one of the most powerful schools in Peking University. He also believes that with the support of our vast alumni, future development prospects for the foundation are promising.
According to the board discussion, the fund will be mainly funded for students and alumni of the NSD, to support or organize meaningful student and alumni activities every year. The board will solicit opinions and choose certain student and alumni activities to support. The board will continue to improve the management system, making it standardized and transparent, publish the fund income, profit and spending status regularly every year, stabilize and expand the scale of fund, whilst providing more and better services for our alumni.
At the end of meeting, the board discussed the work plan before end of 2014 and agreed to co-opt Liu Erhai (E01) as executive member of Alumni Foundation board. The board has been touched by our alumni’s entrepreneurial passion, and agreed to organize an alumni entrepreneurship competition recently, and other work plans will be released later.
About Peking University NSD Alumni Foundation:
The NSD of Peking University Alumni Foundation was founded in January 2014. It aims to better unite and support students and alumni of NSD. The fund will be mainly used for NSD of Peking University students and alumni’s services and activities. All donations will be placed in the NSD of Peking University alumni fund account, subsidiary of Peking University education foundation; the foundation will issue the public welfare donation receipt under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance. According to the relevant national laws and regulations, donors will enjoy the corresponding tax exemption policy.
Donors will receive the following as thanks for their donations:
Donors, who donate 10 million RMB and above will be awarded “Prize of NSD of Peking University Alumni Special Contribution” and become the fund board executive member and founding member. Donors, who donate million RMB and above, will be awarded “Prize of NSD of Peking University Alumni Outstanding Contribution” and become the fund board executive member and founding member. Donors who donate 0.5 million RMB and above, will be awarded “Prize of NSD of Peking University Alumni Excellent Contribution”, and are able to campaign to become an executive member of Alumni Foundation and fund founding member. Donors who donate 0.2 million RMB and above, will be awarded “Prize of NSD of Peking University Alumni Contribution” , become the foundation founder member. According to donations rank, the donor will have the chance to leave their handprints and signature on the “alumni star avenue “in Langrun Garden. Donors who donate 0.1 million and above, will be certificated of “NSD of Peking University Alumni Donation Certification”, according to donations rank, the donor will have the chance to leave their name on “alumni wall “ in Langrun Garden. Anyone who donates to the foundation, irrespective of the amount, will receive a official financial receipt and can sign a written agreement, indicating the donation, donated intention and foundation commitment, and the donors will be archived in the donation list.
