2014-01-15

To mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of US-China diplomatic relations this month, the National Committee on US-China Relations President Stephen A. Orlins rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Monday, on the occasion of the fifth Annual Forecast of China's Economy forum.

Chinese Ambassador to the US Cui Tiankai, China's Permanent Representative to the UN Liu Jieyi, and Chinese Consul General in New York Sun Guoxiang were invited to the ceremony.

The 5th Annual Forecast of China's Economy forum, held by the National Committee on US-China Relations and the China Center for Economic Research (CCER), featured forecasts and analyses of China's economy in 2014, as presented by several of China's most influential economists, who shared their views on China's economic structure and long-term growth prospects, as well as their interpretations of China's new reform agenda.

China and the US marked the 35th anniversary of their diplomatic ties this month, a milestone Chinese ambassador to the US Cui Tiankai described as "an event of great international significance".
