NSD students Li Wei, Qiu Xiaobin and Zhao Wanrong successfully scale Mount Everest

The Peking University (PKU) mountaineering team successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak, this morning, and dedicated this success to the 120th anniversary of the founding of PKU!

At 10:23 on May 15, 2018 Beijing time, the PKU mountaineering team successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak. The mountaineers who successfully reached the summit included Zhao Wanrong, Guo Jiaming, Wei Wei, Li Jinxue, Xia Fan, Tao Bingxue, Zhuang Fangdong, Qian Junwei, Qiu Xiaobin, Li Wei, Yang Dongjie and Fang Xiang. Displaying the national flag of China, as well as the flags of PKU and Shanyin Hiking Club (the mountaineering association) at the summit of Mount Everest, the members of the mountaineering team also proclaimed: “The spirit of PKU always at its zenith”, “Let’s unite and make China prosper”, “Happy 120th anniversary! Greater glory going forward!”, “The 2018 PKU mountaineering team wishes our dearly beloved alma mater a very happy 120th birthday!”

Three members of this mountaineering team hailed from the National School of Development of Peking University (NSD), namely:

Li Wei, NSD Class of 2011 EMBA alumni (left)

Qiu Xiaobin, NSD Class of 2016 MBA in Sports & Healthcare student (middle)

Zhao Wanrong, NSD Class of 2013 Economics Double Major alumni (right)

They sent abundant blessings to NSD, their alma mater, prior to scaling the summit, wishing the BiMBA Business School of NSD a happy 20th anniversary!

Before they left for the expedition, NSD Party Committee Secretary Hu Dayuan, Dean Yao Yang, Deputy Dean Huang Yiping, BiMBA Business School of NSD Dean Chen Chunhua, co-Dean Yang Zhuang, and Professor Zhang Li signed their names on the “National School of Development at Peking University” flag as well as the “2018 Peking University Mountaineering Team” flag to bolster the spirit of the NSD students as they bid them farewell.
