Congratulations to Our Partner University UCL for Rise in the QS World University Rankings

2019-06-21

The 2020 QS World University Rankings was released on 19th June 2019. University College London (UCL), with which the Peking University is co-hosting the PKU-UCL MBA Program, has risen two places to rank 8th in the Rankings, making it the top ranked institution in London, third in the United Kingdom (only next to Oxford and Cambridge), and fourth in Europe.

Peking University has achieved 22nd place in the latest QS World University Rankings, soaring from 30th in the previous year. It is also the highest ranking that Peking University has obtained since QS published the list for the first time in 2004. The surge puts Peking University in top two among all the Chinese mainland universities on the list, demonstrating excellence in teaching, research and student accomplishments.

PKU–UCL MBA Program

The PKU–UCL MBA program was launched in September 2017 and has brought together two world-leading universities together in Beijing, the heart of one of the largest and most dynamic economies in the world, where the MBA program is offered. This summer, the first class of students of this program will graduate with MBA degree from the UCL and graduation certificate from the PKU.

The Peking University-UCL MBA combines the unique research and teaching strengths of the UCL School of Management and the Peking University National School of Development.

The National School of Development (NSD) at Peking University hosts some of China's foremost academics, responsible for advising the Chinese Government on development policies that have driven decades of strong and consistent economic growth. The experienced NSD academics give students a high-level perspective of managing companies in shifting national and international government policy contexts.

The forward-thinking academics at the UCL School of Management (SoM), which specializes in innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, and analytics, help students develop the quantitative and qualitative analytical skills necessary to engage with the changing world.

The MBA classes are conducted by professors from both NSD and SoM, playing an important role in nurturing the next generation of leaders and talents and promoting the development of China and the transformation to a knowledge-based economy.

The PKU-UCL MBA program enjoys:
1. Strength of the two top-ranked universities
2. Experiences in both Beijing and London during the study
3. A shared alumni community of over 500,000 graduates
4. Exclusive One-on-One career mentor scheme

Prof. YAO Yang, Dean of the National School of Development at Peking University said, “Right now, China’s economy is becoming more and more influential in the world economy. Chinese companies have become more competitive internationally but also domestically. Many Chinese companies are beginning to hire foreign workers. Our program offers a good opportunity for students from Europe to tap into the market potential of China.” “The PKU – UCL MBA program is one of the deepest collaborations between China and the UK in the field of education.” He explained that “On the UCL side they are growing out of the engineering school, so the program and professors focus in fields like fintech, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The program combine the UCL-tech specialty with the economic management side of business, teaching students about China’s role in a global context.”
