National School of Development (NSD) at Peking University (PKU) opens 2020-2022 Executive MBA (EMBA) program application to international applicants.
I. Program Overview
National School of Development at Peking University (NSD) is home to one of China’s first EMBA programs. Since its establishment in 2000, the program has helped executives develop a foundation in economics and management with the support of one of China’s most prestigious think tanks. Immersed in this unique environment, entrepreneurs learn to identify trends and patterns in China’s economy, respond to changes in the business world, and forge their own opportunities. EMBA graduates leverage their understanding of the real China to pursue global ambitions. They identify prevailing trends in business management with the confidence that comes from deep-rooted principles. They draw on their curiosity and passion to explore new paths and break new ground. NSD EMBA program encourages entrepreneurs to turn their knowledge, abilities, and responsibilities into tools for self-cultivation.
Langrun Garden
EMBA program run their course at Langrun Garden on the Weiming Lake. The best-preserved annex of the Old Summer Palace, Langrun Garden is an exquisite example of traditional Chinese architecture and remains one of Peking University’s most recognized landmarks.

Curriculum
Since launching one of China’s first EMBA programs in 2000, NSD has dedicated almost two decades to fine-tuning our core curriculum and developing unique electives. Our program design combines systematic learning, valuable cultural experience, prescient judgement, innovative technologies, and a global perspective, featuring five modules: introspection, foresight, innovation, collaboration, and action.
Langrun Alumni Network
NSD provides education at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including MBA, EMBA, Doctor of Professional Studies (DPS), and executive development (EDP) programs and serve as the home of the Mulan Academy, a program that focuses on female leadership and inspires female entrepreneurs. We are also the base for the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development (ISSCAD), which empowers high-ranking government officials and international organizations from developing nations to achieve their potential and pursue success. Over the past 25 years, more than ten thousand leaders from around the world have joined the Langrun Alumni Network. Our community of leaders from government, business, and academia is committed to helping graduates build on the momentum of our EMBA program to make a difference in the world.
II. Program objectives
The EMBA program aims to produce well-behaved and law-abiding entrepreneurs and senior professional managers with an international strategic vision who can show great leadership qualities and make pioneering efforts to systematically master modern management knowledge and latest trends in international economics and technological development, to carve out new competitive edges and to enhance decision-making abilities in order to keep a big picture in mind.
III. Course description
Program duration: 2 years
Starting time: Fall 2020
Location: National School of Development, Peking University
Class schedule: Classes are held four days a month, boasting a flexible timeline with classes held every other weekend or four consecutive days.
Language of instruction: Chinese
Tuition: RMB 728,000
IV. Academic Qualification and Degree
Graduation Certificates and Degree Certificates granted by Peking University will be conferred to candidates upon the completion of all credit courses and the thesis defense in line with the Peking University Charter.
V. Application Eligibility
1. Residents of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan who have immigrated to other countries and apply to Peking University as international applicants, must hold valid foreign passports or citizenship documents before November 30, 2013, along with the proof of cancellation of Chinese nationality.
2. Non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport, applying for Master’s program, must hold a bachelor’s degree. Applicants who graduated from non-Chinese universities must hold a bachelor degree from a university accredited by the Ministry of Education of China. The applicants should have at least 8 years of full-time work experience, including at least 5 years of managerial experience in the mid or senior positions of the large enterprises.
3. Applicants who immigrated to other countries and graduated from Chinese universities, must hold a bachelor degree or higher. The applicants should have at least 8 years of full-time work experience, including at least 5 years of managerial experience in the mid or senior positions of the large enterprises. The applicants holding junior college degrees, should have at least 10 years of full-time work experience, including at least 5 years of managerial experience in the senior positions of the large enterprises.
VI. Application Procedures
1. Visit official PKU NSD website at http://apply.pku-nsd.com/emba/account/login and click “EMBA online application”. Applicants may follow the guideline to complete the EMBA program online application, or contact at 010-62755706 to get more information about the EMBA program.
2. Application Review
The Admissions Committee will review the application after the full application materials are well received. Those who pass the application review, will be qualified for the school admissions interview.
3. Interview
Applicants who attend the admissions interview should bring the original degree certificates, the hard copies of the degree verification report issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, and valid ID cards for eligibility verification.
4. PKU Online Application for International Students
(1) Peking University (PKU) Online Application for International Students’ Admissions (Postgraduate) is open until March 31, 2020. Applicants may log into the International Student Service System of PKU (http://www.studyatpku.com) to finish the online application. Please print out the application form and attach an attested photo.
(2) Original or certified graduation certificate and degree diploma indicating applicants’ highest education level either in Chinese or English.
(3) Original or certified official academic transcripts, either in Chinese or English.
(4) Personal statement, including research proposal, written in Chinese and around 1500 words in length (Applicant may download the form at http://www.isd.pku.edu.cn/cyxz.htm.)
(5) Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors in a related field of study (or specialists with equivalent titles) either in Chinese or English. The format of recommendation letters can be downloaded at http://www.isd.pku.edu.cn/cyxz.htm.
(6) Chinese language proficiency certificate: applicants who are not native Chinese speakers are required to submit the following documents as proof of language proficiency. If such test results are not available, applicants must attend a Mandarin proficiency test organized by NSD.
HSK written test:
Applicants applying for science and engineering programs: HSK level 6 and the overall scores of 200 or higher (minimum of 65 in written test) are required;
Applicants applying for humanities and social sciences programs: HSK level 6 and the overall scores of 210 or higher (minimum of 65 in written test) are required;
Applicants who immigrated to other countries from China, do not need to submit Chinese language proficiency test results.
(7) Photocopy of passport: applicants should use valid passports.
(8) Supporting materials: applicants may submit supporting materials to prove his or her academic achievements, including a list of catalogs and abstracts of published academic articles and other original research achievements if applicable.
Except the recommendation letters, the applicants should mail two application material packs, including the original copy and a photocopy, to the NSD EMBA Center.

(9) Application Fee
International applicants, who apply for Master Degree programs should pay the application fee of RMB800, based on the regulations of National and Beijing municipal education committees as well as Peking University. Cash, credit cards and online payment are accepted. For online payment, please follow the instructions on the website http://www.studyatpku.com. Other currencies or traveler’s check are not accepted. The application fee is non-refundable.
