Five scholars from the NSD have been appointed as co-editors and other key positions of top international academic journals

Recently, five scholars from the National School of Development at Peking University, namely Xu Jintao, Wang Min, Xing Jianwei, Huang Wei, and Mei Liang, have successively taken up new positions in the international academic community. With their profound academic expertise and cutting-edge research achievements, they have been invited to serve as co-editors-in-chief or associate editors of multiple top international academic journals, with their terms commencing from January 2025.

Among them, Xu Jintao was invited to serve as the co-editor of "Environment and Development Economics". This journal enjoys a high reputation internationally and actively encourages submissions from researchers in both developed and developing countries. Xu Jintao is currently a Boya distinguished professor at Peking University, a professor at the NSD, and the director of the Center for Environmental and Energy Economics Research. His research covers a wide range of areas, including industrial enterprise pollution control policies, rural land use change and greenhouse gas emission reduction, and forestry economics.

Wang Min has been invited to serve as a co-editor of China Economic Review (CER). CER is widely recognized in the economic circles both domestically and internationally, focusing on original research, actively exploring the Chinese economy and its relationship with the world economy, and encouraging international comparisons of China's development experience. Wang Min currently serves as an associate professor at the National School of Development (NSD) at Peking University and as the deputy director of the Center for Environmental and Energy Economics Research. His research covers areas such as environmental and resource economics, energy economics, climate change, and macroeconomic development.

Xing Jianwei has been invited to serve as the co-editor of the Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (JAERE), and he is currently the only co-editor-in-chief from China. JAERE is regarded as a top-tier publication in environmental economics, dedicated to publishing original research that provides important new insights in the fields of environmental protection, resource management, climate change, energy policy, and more, with a special focus on the application of economic methods in environmental and resource issues. Xing Jianwei is currently a long-term associate professor of economics at the National School of Development (NSD) at Peking University, with research areas including new energy industry policy, low-carbon transportation transformation, ecological environment governance, and the welfare impact of the digital economy.

Huang Wei was invited to serve as the Associate Editor of the Journal of Health Economics (JHE). JHE is a top-tier health economics journal globally, dedicated to publishing high-quality theoretical and empirical research in the field of health economics, covering topics such as health insurance, demand for medical services, health policy evaluation, competition in the medical market, and health outcomes analysis. Huang Wei is currently a Peking University Boya Young Scholar, an associate professor at the NSD, and concurrently serves as the director of undergraduate teaching and the deputy director of the Center for Healthy Aging and Development Research. His main research interests include labor economics, health economics, and public economics.

Mei Liang has been invited to serve as an Associate Editor for two journals, namely "Industrial and Corporate Change" (ICC) and "Journal of Engineering and Technology Management" (JET-M). ICC is a top-tier journal in the field of innovation and strategy, while JET-M is a core journal in the field of innovation and engineering management, both enjoying high reputation in their respective domains. Mei Liang is currently an associate researcher at the National School of Development (NSD) at Peking University, focusing on innovation management and technology policy research.

The international academic journal community has successively invited the aforementioned five scholars from the National School of Development (NSD) at Peking University to take on key positions, which is not only a high recognition of their academic contributions and research capabilities, but also a strong proof of the powerful scientific research strength of NSD. While receiving honors, these five scholars will also bear a responsibility, which inspires them to engage more scholars in academic research and contribute to promoting the development of disciplinary frontiers and knowledge innovation.
